Jenny Gherau, RD, LD, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Vida Health and @EatChatThrive.Nutritionist
Provide us with a brief description of your job: As a virtual dietitian with Vida Health in the Whole Health program, an innovative division, I collaborate with other health care professionals to help many people around the US manage chronic disease from their living rooms. I also own a nutrition business focused on disease management and mental health awareness within BIPOC communities (find my new IG @EatChatThrive.Nutritionist).
What do you love about what you do? Being a dietitian is rewarding on many fronts. I am honored to guide and connect with people of all ages, backgrounds and cultures into a healthier lifestyle they’ve envisioned. I am inspired by my clients daily which helps me to become a better nutrition professional.
How has your MAND membership benefited you? Being a MAND member has given me opportunities I would not have known about such as being the Diversity and Inclusion Liaison for MAND, being visible to many groups for nutrition presentations and project collaborations, and allows me to network with other healthcare professionals to continue to support and learn together.
What do you think is the future of nutrition and dietetics? I believe the future of nutrition and dietetics is bright and limitless. Since I’ve started my business, I’ve been exposed to dietitians in immeasurable areas of nutrition work. We are creating a highway system for ourselves and becoming much more recognized as the world is leaning on health and wellness as the crux to the unknown health crisis that surrounds us. That being said, we still have work to do. I am excited to see those who are truly nutrition experts dominating many fields that are crucial for us to share our voice.
